Gorkhi-Terelj National Park

Gorkhi-Terelj National Park  is one of the national parks of Mongolia. Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, created in 1993, borders the Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area, and it is one of the most

visited protected areas. It is connected with Ulaanbaatar by a paved road to the East direction, 70 km from Ulaanbaatar city center. Terelj, on the Terelj river bank is a spectacular valley with eroded rock formations, pine-covered mountains and grasslands carpeted with perennial wildflowers and edelweiss. Park wildlife includes brown bears and over 250 species of birds. The Tuul River flows through the park.

The park has many rock formations for rock climbers, and includes two famous formations named for things they resemble: Turtle Rock and the Old Man Reading a Book (Praying Lama Rock). There are also a huge number of adventure activities such as rafting, horseback riding, hiking, skiing, camping and mountain biking.
