Nespresso Vertuo review: is smart brewing technology the key to good coffee at home?

Given the ridiculous but

descriptive portmanteau Centrifusion™, the technology involves rapidly spinning the metal, grounds-filled pods while pouring to allow variable extraction lengths so you can get coffee in the style you want without ending up with a thimbleful of weak joe or a whole mug of straight espresso.
The pods come in 20 varieties, covering various blends and in four sizes from the 40ml Espresso to the thermos-ready 414ml Alto, but they are not interchangeable with existing Nespresso pods. The machine I tried out for a few weeks — the VertuoPlus — is a handsome but bulky device with an adjustable cup holder and a tall water tank you can position on either side as your counter space allows.
