Uber is a transport firm and can be regulated, Europe's top court rules

The ruling in the case, which was

originally launched by taxi firms from Spain, means Uber must comply with each country's local transportation rules. This could potentially result in the company changing how it does business across Europe while also facing tighter regulation.
"It follows that, as EU law currently stands, it is for the Member States to regulate the conditions under which such services are to be provided in conformity with the general rules of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU," a statement from the court says.
